TECHNICAL STEPS

  • STEP 01

Take a central profile parting from the forehead to the nape.

  • STEP 02

Then take a rectangular section following the shape of the hairline to isolate the fringe.

  • STEP 03

Take a central vertical section within the fringe. Comb the hair 90˚ off the hairline, elevate to 45˚ and point-cut squarely to the head shape to establish length and weight within the fringe.

  • STEP 04

Continue working with vertical sections towards the sides, over-directing each section to the previous one. This maintains a slightly round front perimeter.

  • STEP 05

Note the change of hand and body position and repeat the same technique on the other side.

  • STEP 06

Note the change of hand and body position and repeat the same technique on the other side.

  • STEP 07

Continue working towards the sides by extending the diagonal back section to the round of the head, then take diagonal forward sections to the front of the ear.

  • STEP 08

At the side, over-direct all sections up to the recession area and point-cut, following the guide from the edge of the fringe.

  • STEP 09

Note the change of hand and body position and repeat the same technique on the opposite side.

  • STEP 10

Detail the side perimeter using controlled slicing at a low elevation.

  • STEP 11

Remove additional weight using slicing from the bottom up.

  • STEP 12

To isolate the back, take two diagonal forward sections from below the crown to the top of the ears.

  • STEP 13

At the top of the head, take a central vertical section. Comb and elevate the hair 90˚ to the top of the head. Using point-cutting, create a square layering guide, disconnected from the fringe section.

  • STEP 14

On both sides of the head, over-direct all the remaining hair to the centre guide and cut evenly using deep point-cutting

  • STEP 15

Note the change of body position and repeat the same technique on the opposite side.

  • STEP 16

Take a radial parting at the crown, followed by a central vertical section at the back. Comb the section to 90˚, elevate to 45˚ from the round of the head and, using controlled slicing, remove weight, working from short to long.

  • STEP 17

Continue working towards the sides using slight diagonal back sections, over-directing each one back to the previous section.

  • STEP 18

Upon completing the layering, reshape the baseline, rounding up towards the sides.

  • STEP 19

Blow-dry the hair smooth, without adding volume at the roots, using a TIGI PRO Large Round Brush.

  • STEP 20A

Use controlled slicing, point-cutting and slicing to detail the entire shape.

  • STEP 20B

  • STEP 20C

  • STEP 20D

  • STEP 21

Buckle the hair with your hands and blow-dryer to create a soft, lived-in texture. To finish, apply Headrush Shine Spray and Masterpiece Shine Hairspray to add shine and hold.
